My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Gonzo and I'm a 11.5 lbs Short Hair Dachshund. I'm quite unique in several ways, but the most obvious one is my Brindle coat. If you are an experienced Dachshund human, then I might be looking for you. If I am to agree to live with you, you must be consistent in your requests and expectations and NEVER "baby talk" to me (I just hate that...). I can be Grumpy, Grumbly and Growly, but if you are decisive, and let me know what is and isn't acceptable to you (I respond amazingly well to positive reinforcement), I will do my best to follow your guidelines (although you might have to remind me of them once in a while). I might be middle aged (11 yo), but I LOVE to fetch (I will outlast you I'm sure), and to sleep in my crate (and why wouldn't I, it has my favorite bed and blankie are in it...) or on your lap. I'm not much of a barker, unless I want your attention, and I'm fairly well house trained (I'll even use a Pee Pad if you've got one), so I don't mind if you live in an apartment, but I do prefer going for walks or outside in the yard WITH you. I get along quite well with other dogs, but I'm not crazy about children, so it might be best to introduce me to them VERY slowly and not let them handle me. I am fully vaccinated, microchiped, neutered & in perfect health (the nice people at Tiny Paws Dog Rescue made sure of that), but I do require daily eye drops to help with my dry eyes.
