Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Xena is a sweet, gentle soul and a wonderful, loving companion. She was rescued in April of 2016 from a bad situation and is now a happy and healthy girl. She weighs about 65 pounds and is almost 11 years old. She has a clean bill of health from the veterinarian, and all of her vet records from puppyhood to present are available to the potential owner. She is current on heartworm medication.
Xena grew up with three little girls and was an inside only dog until rescued. Now she enjoys time outside exploring a fenced half acre of woods and backyard and playing with her foster canine siblings. She also enjoys time spent inside with her humans and especially likes to nap. Xena is a “hugger.” She will gently push her face and head into you and love on you all day long.
Xena will nap throughout the day but also has spurts of puppy playfulness with her foster mom, and she loves to run and chase her two foster canine siblings. She is a very calm and laid back dog.
She is excellent with commands, is very obedient and knows how to sit, give her paw, lay down, and stay. She is a great watch dog, has an awesome deep bark and only barks when necessary. She also has a lovely soft yelp when she sees her foster parents pulling in the driveway or visitors she has come to know.
Since Xena thrives on human companionship, the potential adopter should be home a lot… semi-retired, work from home, etc. A fenced in yard is required, unless the potential adopter can commit to exercising her several times outside throughout the day. (Xena is an excellent leash walker) Due to being neglected by her previous owners, it is very important for Xena to have physical exercise and stimulation. She does not like thunder or gunshots.
Xena’s favorite things in life are human companionship, a soft doggie bed, treats, exploring outside, walking on a leash and interacting with other dogs or other animals. Interested adopters will need to complete our Adoption Application
