My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 65 lbs
Variety: Bench

Let us introduce you to Jake. He's one BIG bundle of love, and he's one of the sweetest fosters we have ever had in our program! Jake was relinquished due to his former family's financial hardship. This was, of course, a very sad situation because Jake was very much loved by his owners, but fortunately they reached out to ESRA to ensure that he will find the perfect Forever Family. The love Jake has always received shines through in his personality every single day, and we want to make sure that the same level of love continues in his Forever Home.

Jake is indeed a big boy, but he is a lean sixty-five pounds. He is also as gentle as they come, and there is not a mean bone in his sweet body. Jake does have his playful, puppylike moments, and he loves his floppy toys, but he is never rough or over the top. His goofy side comes through when he is playing, and that gives everyone who watches him plenty of giggles. He loves to snuggle, get belly rubs, and sleep on his dog bed by your feet in the evening. This would be the perfect dog for a family with children. Jake loves everyone, including his canine companions.

This handsome guy is housetrained, and he is wonderful in a crate if treats are used to entice him in. He has a beautiful, healthy coat and crystal-clean ears. Jake could use a little work in walking on a leash, but a gentle lead could easily take care of his tendency to pull. He does know a few commands, but if he gets on the scent of a squirrel, the command "Come" gets lost in the moment. Jake is strongly prey driven. Also, if he gets loose, he loves to play keep-away, staying just beyond arm's length and making a game of being caught. For this reason, we recommend a home with either a fenced yard or a containment system. Jake is very smart and has no trouble learning his boundaries.

We are excited to help Jake find the lucky people who will become his ideal Forever Family. So if you can give him all the love and care he deserves, please contact his case managers right away!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Jake.
