My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dozer is a 1 year old neutered fox red male Lab who weighs 43 pounds. Dozer's owner brought him to the shelter for no apparent reason. But that's a good thing because Dozer deserves a family that will love and cherish him. He'll return the love tenfold!! The volunteer evaluator says Dozer is a great dog – very, very sweet and friendly. His coat has a beautiful reddish blonde hue. Dozer is good with other dogs. From the transporter: Dozer is a sweet and happy dog. His face is gorgeous. He rode well, just enjoying the ride and chillaxing in the back seat. He is approved for kids 10+. More info soon!

Update: Dozer is such a sweet little dude! He doesn't bolt out the door, loves the car, waits for his foster mom to tell him to get out of the car, doesn't bother anyone's food dishes. He will play with his foster sister for a few minutes then he's done, and loves tennis balls!! He got a bath over the weekend and he stood there and didn't move. Not afraid of loud noises like the vacuum or hair dryer. He goes in his crate with no issues at all. He is such a good boy. He would be a great first time dog for someone. He isn't a barker - foster mom heard him bark once yesterday for the first time. Even though he's young, he's got about a medium energy level and is a pretty calm boy. Dozer is completely house broken and goes to the door and whines to go out. He has even rung the bells a few times. Dozer met some cats today and was more afraid of them than interested in chasing them. He's great with his 12 lb foster sibling and has no interest in his foster parrot. He needs to gain some weight, so he is eating three square meals a day, and loving it. Dozer has gained nearly 5 lbs!

Update: Dozer has arrived at his foster home and is such a sweet boy! He met the resident dogs with no issues, and is quite the love - kisses are his thing!

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: No fence ok

This dog is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound) Adopters must travel to Maryland, Virginia or Washington DC with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 50 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. Within a few days of submitting an application you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
