Meet Polo a 2 year-old, 8.5 pound Yorkie-Mix boy being fostered in Richmond VA.
Polo's adoption fee is $400 and includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, all Vet recommended medical care, micro-chipping and registration into new owner's name.
All adoptions through United Yorkie Rescue require a veterinarian reference, three personal references, and a physical home visit.
Polo originally belonged to a young adult who worked a lot and he was crated for long periods of time. This has resulted in Polo missing out on learning important skills like house training, leash walking, and good canine manners. It also resulted in Polo disliking being crated VERY MUCH. Crating causes Polo a lot of stress so we will be looking to find him a home where long term crating is not necessary. Polo is also not house trained at all. He is not neutered (that will happen this week) and should really help with his house-training. His foster parents will also be working with him to help him start learning this very important behavior.
Polo is a handsome yet tall fellow measuring about 10" at his shoulder. He is thin at 8.5 pounds because Polo is very active and always on the move! His young at two years of age so there is plenty of puppy energy left in this sweet boy! Polo is very sweet and wants only to be loved by his person. He craves attention and affection which is also common in young dogs that are left alone and crated for long periods of time. He has a good personality and gets along with other dogs. He would probably love having another young pup to play with but he would also probably LOVE to be someone's only fur child.
A perfect home for Polo would be one where his humans are patient and and have lots of time and energy to devote to him. Polo detests being crated so we feel this is not a good option for him unless it is for very short periods of time. Polo needs to catch up on learning the skills that most young dogs learn as puppies like house-training, leash walking, and when its time to play and time to settle down.
