My name is Shamus I was surrendered by my family to a shelter, that is where CAA Rescue step in and my foster family came to pick me up one day.
It really was not easy for me at first in foster care. I was very timid and shy. I was also confused about walks and potty outside.
But my foster family was so very patient with me, they just continued with positive reinforcement to build up my confidence and stuck with their routines.
Now I am very proud to say I am leash trained and house trained. I even now ask for the door to let them know that it is Potty Time! I am very proud of myself to be quite honest. But I suspect that my adoptive family will probably go through the same issues during my adjustment period into a new home. While I do not know this for sure but I suspect that a change in homes will set me back a little … yelling at me will only make things worse. I need someone who will stay positive and on schedule to continue the hard work my foster family went through to get me to this point.
And while I was very submissive and quite standoffish at the beginning I am coming out of my shell a little more each day as my confidence grows so I need a gentle and positive family to continue to shape me into a happy fuzzywuzzy boy! I really truly desperately want to be happy and free of the fear. And I know I can get there with my best friend by my side; paw in hand together forever!
And while I do live in a home with other dogs and cats I would probably be happier if I could be the only furry bum in the house so that I could get all the attention and spoiling my little heart can handle!
I have not been around any children but probably best that I do not live with any at this time. I need someone devoted to me so if you are busy making lunches, helping with homework and being taxi mom that will probably leave very little time with me.
I have not really been left alone for any extended period of time so not sure if I would suffer from destructive separation anxiety
I am probably not the best dog for a first time dog family; I need patience and perseverance to continue in my already successful training
I can potentially live to 15+ years old!! That is 92 years old in human terms.

A 3-Step process to adopt one of our foster dogs.
1. Fill the adoption form. It might seem long, but it’s the best way to find the right dog for you and your family!
2. We’ll arrange a meeting with the foster family of the dog you want to meet so you can see if s/he’s the right one for you.
3. If you decide to move forward, you’ll be asked to agree to a home visit, fill-in and sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
