Hello there! My name is Daisy. I hope you'll take just a moment to read my story, as I've been without a family now for quite some time. The Halfway House took me after I was seized by the local Animal Control facility. I had been abandoned in a home with my puppies, many of my siblings, and lots of other dogs, after my family moved out of the house and left all of us alone. It took quite a while for the neighbors to realize a very bad smell was coming from my house, and finally my rescuers came! Or so I thought. Because I was part of a cruelty case, I went from a home with deceased dogs and filthy conditions to steel bars, away from all my siblings and everyone I knew. Luckily, after my case was tried in court, I was up for adoption! I was so excited! So I waited... and waited... and waited... and finally my last day came around. I didn't know what "last day before euthanasia" meant, but it didn't sound good. Boy was I wrong! Apparently, "last day" is the day the Halfway House came to get me! And I'm so thankful for that. I have now been with the Halfway House for about a year- with a brief stay with another family. Because of my past history of abuse and neglect, I bond VERY quickly to people, but then I become very protective of them. I don't want anyone to hurt them, or take them away from me. I am at a foster home now, and I do very well with correction, but I need a VERY SPECIAL and experienced owner who is going to continue to train me not to protect them. I need an owner who is going to be willing to continue working with a trainer, and who promises to always take care of me, even if that means putting me away when guests come over, or using a basket muzzle until my behavior is resolved. I know this is a behavior I can get over, because I am doing much better in my foster home, but once I leave my foster home, I will need constant training and reassurance. My foster mom tells me I am the most sweetest, smartest, loving, perfect dog in the world other than that one issue! I love other dogs, cats, and I do well with children as long as they are nice to me. I am house trained and would never have an accident, and I absolutely LOVE my crate. I sleep under the covers at night, and I have no resource guarding or food guarding with humans, although sometimes I don't want to share my bones with other dogs. I walk well on a leash, and I am just the sweetest, snuggliest, most wonderful girl in the world. Could you be the forever family I'm meant for?
