My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carmen was surrendered to ARF on 2/4/2017.  Carmen is about two years old, has been spayed, and is housetrained.  In the home from which she came, there were several dogs and people.  The dogs were allowed to roam during the day, for the family lived far out in the country.  Carmen slept in a doggie bed in the owners' bedroom at night.  They had brought this girl into their home when she was a pup, and Carmen has not been taken out since she arrived.  She has not been leash walked, she has not been for car rides, she has not experienced many things that a dog her age has learned about. Therefore, she is a little fearful taken away from the only home she remembers.  Though it was somewhat chaotic in the household with two mentally impaired teenagers and several extended family members in and out and several dogs, Carmen is a lovely girl who just needs a little time to adjust.  At boarding, she balked when asked to go through the door after a leash walk and pulled her collar!  She had been doing so well that the owner didn't expect that!  She knelt and got Carmen to come to her again, but a slip-lead would be better for Carmen until she gets comfortable with new and different surroundings.  Once she settles in and gets comfortable, this dog will be a gem!!!
