My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is a darling male Shih Tzu mix. Born 10/10/2014, he has a soft, non-shedding black coat with a white beard and chest and weighs 14 pounds. Due to a very serious illness in his original family, they could no longer afford to care for him and were forced to give him up. He arrived at the Safehouse on 08/14/2016. A friendly, bouncy, typical adolescent. Teddy was adopted on 10/22/2016 and, through no fault of his own, he returned to us on 02/18/2017. Once again, a very serious illness in his adopting family made caring for both Teddy and the family member unworkable. Twice abandoned by families he loved and trusted has taken its toll on this once light hearted little dog and he is feeling lost and confused right now. However, dogs are incredibly forgiving creatures and we know with patience and loving care Teddy’s wiggling, tail wagging, personality will soon return. Teddy is a very energetic handsome guy, full of life and the joy of youth; if it runs, he will chase it!!!!! Teddy loves to play fetch, enjoys squeaky toys and playing with all creatures great and small. We are unsure of his house training skills, at the Safehouse he has access to the outdoors through doggy doors but Teddy will accept confinement in a crate or a larger area or room so housetraining should not be a problem if you are willing to make the effort to teach him. Teddy will definitely need obedience training to help him get his exuberance under control. No young children but older ones would enjoy his playfulness as would another small young dog. Love, consistent discipline, patience and a sense of humor are necessary ingredients for living with this irascible youngster; but, a lifetime of entertainment, companionship and appreciation are the reward. Teddy is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and he has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $300.
