My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dodger came to us as an owner surrender when their daughter's allergies became so bad that she was requiring shots. He has been a much loved boy and he came into rescue calm, confident and super well behaved. Dodger is a Poodle/Schnauzer mix, 7 years old who weighs 16 pounds.

Dodger is completely house trained, crate trained (but doesn't require one), enjoys is car rides, his walks and has managed to worm his way into his foster's bed... He is good with other dogs, any size, and is good with respectful children 10 or older.

Dodger is a devoted boy. He is a go where you go, do what you do, dog. He is wonderfully well behaved, even asking if he can join you on the sofa instead of just jumping up. He will need a person or family that wants to include their dog in their lives. Dodger needs to be truly a part of his family.

Dodger's adoption will require a fenced yard or fenced area large enough for him to exercise, that leads directly into the home and someone who is not working aware from home a typical 8 hour work day; someone that works from home, works very part time or is retired. He would be fine with children 10 or older and either with or without another dog in the home. Dodger will need to live with someone that is a raw feeder. He has had allergies all of his life, chewing his feet and itching sometimes to the point of requiring steroids. Believing that a species appropriate diet will correct most allergies, Dodger went immediately onto a raw diet and his itching and feet chewing stopped within days. He is on Primal Mix and will need to stay on a raw diet in his new home. No exceptions here.

Star-Mar Rescue is a natural care provider. We use no chemicals on our dogs, do blood titers instead of randomly vaccinating. Our yards are without fertilizer and weed killer and our homes are toxin free. We feel that dogs can be protected without being harmed by harsh chemicals and unnecessary vaccinations and do best on a species appropriate raw diet. We are happy to talk with you about caring for your dogs in a way that keeps them happy and healthy long into their senior years. We place our dogs into homes that are already practicing natural care or homes that are eager to learn.

If you feel that your lifestyle and environment meet with Dodger's needs, please contact Martha at learymjri@aol.com or call 330-466-3667 or 330-262-0515 for an application or more information. Dodger's adoption will require an approved application and a home visit, with adoption completed at Dodger's foster home. Dodger's adoption is $275.
