My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are guessing that Little Bean did not get what he wanted for Christmas, so he decided to make himself a present. He walked right up on to his rescuers porch on Christmas Day and made himself at home in her lap. All efforts were made to find Bean's people, but no one claimed him as their own. So now Bean is all ready to find a new forever home! Bean is very friendly and loves all the animals and people that he meets. He is good with dogs of all sizes. He does well with cats as long as they are playful with him. He will bark at them, if they hiss or try to run away. He loves to play and is a very adept jumper! Hence his name – Jumping Bean. His foster mom sometimes also calls him a Pinto Bean because of his stripes. At night when it is time for bed he is a very good snuggler and has to sleep right beside his foster mon. Under the covers if it's a cold night! We believe that Bean is approximately 9 months old and weighs 9 pounds. He looks to be a Dachshund Mix. He is mostly housetrained – although he does occasionally have an accident – he will use a pee pad. He is working on learning how to walk on a leash. Bean has been neutered, has tested negative for heartworms, is up to date on all vaccines (Dhpplv, Rabies and Bordatella) and takes a monthly Heartworm and Flea/Tick preventative. Email today for an application if you believe that Bean is the companion you have been searching for!

Please, you MUST visit the following link BEFORE emailing for further information. If you'd like to find out more information about our adoption procedure or to apply for this dog visit http://www.poochesonthemove.net/dixie-pet-underground.html

Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application, or visit our website at www.dixiepetunderground.org.

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the dog/puppy and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.

Dogs and puppies are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and heartworm negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your dog and puppy at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $450 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.

Our dogs and puppies are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the dog or puppy leaves rescue.

All of our dogs and puppies come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a dog or puppy from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the dog or puppy that you welcome into your family.

Our dogs or puppies are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the dog or puppy before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the dog. We have had several hundred dogs adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy puppies and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the dog and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a dog and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right dog for your family!
