My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 11/28/2008: Lewy here! I'm a 3-4 year old 9.8# yorkie boy; I'm being fostered in Miami, FL. Dontcha' like my new hairdo? It's coming in nicely if I do say so myself. I was found on the streets by a nice couple who had me shaved since I was covered in icky fleas and my hair was matted all over. Well, I'm loving life now. I love to go for walks, love to give kisses, and love other doggies, especially those my size. I am housetrained and don't bark too much. I think I'm a pretty great boy, and if you think so, you should apply to let me come live with you. :) I'm a little shy at first and I don't like loud noises, but other than that, I'm an easy-going guy! This is Lewy signing out!

UPDATED BIO 11/7/08: Hi everypuppy - Lewy here! Oh, if you forgot, I am 3 or 4 years old and weigh 9.7#. I am being fostered in Miami, FL. I just wanted to let everyone know I got my noo-ter today and they also checked my urine. It came back clean! No stones! No more UTI! The dogtor says I am ready to go to my new home. Please come and get me soon, 'kay? My hair is coming in nicely too. I am gonna be even better looking than I am now!

UPDATED BIO 10/31/08: Hiya - Lewy here! I'm 3-4 years old and weigh 9.5#. I

am being fostered in Miami, FL. I think I am the cutest pup around. Sure, my hair needs to grow back, but who hasn't had a bad haircut? I'm a loveable guy. FM thinks I might have been abused in the past since I get real skeered sometimes. I love to go on walks and play with other doggies. I'm very friendly, but I am afraid of loud noises,

especially thunder. I'm having fun here at FM's house playing with my foster brother Bowie, but I'd like a family of my own, pleeze. I am mostly housetrained and am having an easier time holding it now that my UTI is almost all gone. I'm still waiting or my noo-ter and to make sure my urine is OK. After that, I should be ready to go to my forever home.

From Lewy's Foster Mom: Lewy would LOVE a backyard or at least easy access to a fenced-in area where he can explore. He enjoys other dogs and would do well with a companion close to his size and age. Lewy cannot be adopted to a family with young children since he was abused. Be ready. When your alarm clock goes off, Lewy is there to make sure you don't press the snooze button!

UPDATED BIO 10/24/08: Lewy is a 3-4 year old, 9.5# little man who is just the sweetest little dog ever. He and his foster brother Bowie keep Foster Mom laughing. Lewy has a sweet but playful personality. It has been discovered FM has noticed, however, that Lewy shows signs that he may have been abused in the past. While visiting friends of FM's, one of the adults in the home picked up a loose golf club to put it away in the bag - this caused Lewy to start shaking from head to toe. It just broke everyone's hearts so see this little boy so terrified of the golf club because he thought someone might hurt him. Needless to say, the rest of the evening was spent cuddling Lewy and telling him how much we all loved him and how nobody was ever going to hurt him again!!!

Lewy also appears to be somewhat frightened of small children. Mature children ages 12 and over would be more appropriate for this little fella. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, and it's doubtful that he would ever bite anyone, but quick-moving children and all that comes along with them might be a bit much for sweet Lewy.

Lewy uses the wee-wee pads most of the time, and there have been no accidents this past week, even when FM leaves for work. But....... Lewy sometimes doesn't know the difference between a carpet and a wee-wee pad... just FYI. :) Lewy is going to have his follow-up visit with the vet soon so that he can be evaluated for signs of bladder stones. Wish Lewy luck with his vet visit..........please also consider adopting this loving little boy.

UPDATED BIO 10/15/08: Lewy is doing well in his foster home. While he would prefer to leave the house with FM, he goes and lays down and waits patiently on her bed for her to come home. He was doing well in the housetraining department, but then he developed a urinary tract infection and has signs of bladder stones. :( Lewy is on antibiotics and has an appointment with the vet to have them evaluated. Lewy is just as sweet as can be and even lets Bowie, who is being fostered in the same home, jump all over him and tug at his ears to get him to play. He just sits there and takes it so patiently, and then joins in on the fun. Lewy is very frightened of thunderstorms, but only during a loud storm. Considering all the storms this time of the year in Florida, Lewy is doing quite well. He is a sweetheart and sleeps well through the night. Just don't expect to hit your snooze button. He knows when your alarm goes off, you're going to get up, take him outside, and most importantly, FEED HIM! He will make a great companion for a family with older children, and would enjoy a playmate of similar age and size.

UPDATED BIO 10-08-08: A funny thing happened to me today....I got younger! {FM wants to figure out how she can get some of that!} I went to the dogtor today to have some tests done before my noo-ter. The nice lady vet examined me thoroughly and told FM that I am definitely not 6 years old. At the MOST, I am between 3-4 years old. My teeth are purty and white like a young'un. My eyes are clear like a young'un. My heart ticks like that of a young'un. Well, if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck..... So, I am just a wee lad. As soon as I get my noo-ter, I am ready to go home with you!

UPDATED BIO 10-06-08: Hello again! Just a quick update. FM says she spoke too soon and I am proving to be pretty smart in the not-pottying-in-the-house-department. I was alone for 5 hours today and did not wee-wee in the house. See! I told ya I'm smart!!! Also, I do not care about cats as long as they don't hiss and run away from me. I play with other doggies my size, but I don't really seem to play with toys very much. My new foster brother Wilson is trying to teach me. Well, I gotta go now! ...Oh yeah, one more thing.... adopt me!

ORIGINAL BIO 10-04-08: Hey, everypuppy! My name is Lewy! I'm the newest kid on the block here in Florida. I'm 6 years old and weigh 9.4#. Thank Goodness Foster Mom rescued me from a local shelter down here in South Florida, and boy-oh-boy am I a grateful dog!

Some really nice people found me on the streets and because I was matted and had a kazillion fleas on me, they had me shaved down - um, it's my summer cut, 'kay? It'll grow back and when it does, I'm gonna be even MORE handsome than I already am! I think they call that, "handsomer." The people that found me couldn't keep me, so they took me to the shelter. I've still gotta have some kinda 'nooter' surgery ... wonder what that means? Nobody ever took the time to teach me where I was s'posed to go potty, so Foster Mom said that she will be working on my housetraining. Hey, I'm smart - I'm trained to go in the house! So, what's the prob??

Let's see - anything else you wanna know 'bout me? I'm cute. I'm sweet. I'm cute....oh, did I say that already? Oopsie. I've got lots of energy. I love to play. Foster Mom adores me - she says my life is gonna take a turn for the better now that UYR is here for me. Thanks to everybody for reading about me - now, dontcha' wanna adopt me?
