My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 10/10/08: Hello everybody! It's me Fergie! Thought I better give you a little update on me. I am still running the house over here at my foster parents. Bossy as ever - until someone stands up to me - then I run for the downstairs, 'cause if someone wants to mess with me they'll have to go downstairs to find me! I really hope my FM can find a home for me soon; I just want to be loved, and hugged, and kissed. Kind of like I get now, but I don't want to have to share with all the other dogs. I want all the lovin' for myself! FM thinks I should get a home where I can be the only dog 'cause she says I am a little "selfish" - whatever that means. I am including a new pic of myself, which I don't do very often. That camera thing annoys me, so I don't sit well for pictures. Hope you like! (Oh yeah, those are actually the color of my eyes. The shelter I came from thought I had cataracts, but my good vet says different. I just have two colors in each eye. Cool, huh?)

Talk to ya soon, Fergie

Update 09/05/08: Hello again - it's me, Fergie. Sorry it's been so long since I wrote. I have had a very long and confusing month of August. You see, I went into heat about three weeks ago. It was my first time and I didn't know what was wrong with me. I was really grouchy toward the other dogs at my foster's house and they didn't understand it either. One minute I would be playing and the next minute, I wanted to bite someone's ear off (not literally). Not to mention there were times when Scotch and Scooter were just the best looking boy dogs I ever laid eyes on and I couldn't resist being around them. What a strange feeling!(Scotch and Scooter are my foster's dogs) As soon as Mom and Dad realized I was in heat, they made the appointment to get me spayed. That was a really fun experience...not!! However, here I am two weeks after my surgery and I am back to my old self again. My foster folks said I won't have to worry about going through that thing called "heat" anymore and thank goodness for that!

I am a very playful little Dorkie who loves to play tug with my foster mom. The other dogs want to play tug with me too, but they are a little bigger than me so it's not as much fun. They always win! My foster dad discovered that I don't care much for thunderstorms. We had a thunderstorm a couple of weeks ago and nobody could find me. They thought I might have gotten out of their fence and were driving around looking for me! I was actually under one of the kid's beds and I wasn't coming out until I was sure that storm had passed. Apparently I was "missing" for about 6 hours - whatever that means. I also love to wrap myself up in a blanket to take a nap. I'll even try to get under the covers if they let me up on their bed - it's so warm under there. However, foster dad had chili the other night and I don't think I will be burrowing under their blanket when he is in bed anymore!

Anyway, I am now completely ready to go to my new forever home. All I need for you to do is keep filling out those applications so my foster parents can find me a great home. I am so excited - I can't wait to find my forever home and curl up with my new parents. Hopefully, they don't like too much chili.

Talk to you soon - I promise I won't wait as long as I did this time.

Original Bio 08/01/08: Hello all! I'm Fergie, the five pound, one year old Dorkie. Hey, stop laughing that is really what I am called! I am a Yorkie/Dachshund mix with a wonderful and affectionate personality. I have just arrived to my foster parent's house a couple of days ago and am still showing off for everybody. My fosters took me to the vet today to get caught up on all of my shots and was given a clean bill of health by the great doctors there. Oh, it's time to go play with my foster parent's dogs...what fun!! I will send an update in about a week to let you know a little more about me. Bye for now.

Fergie
