My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chappie, formerly Howie. Chappie got his name from the inspiration of a four star general in the Air Force. Daniel "Chappie" James Jr. (February 11, 1920 – February 25, 1978) was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, who in 1975 became the first African American to reach the rank of four-star general.

Chappie arrived at the shelter through a friend of Canine CellMates. Alex Andes is a dog trainer, and she found Chappie in the middle of a busy road, and rescued him. She took him to Fulton County Animal Services, where we discovered him. I was thrilled when he passed our temperament assessment, after his stray hold was up, and couldn't wait to call Alex and let her know that the dog she saved had just become a Canine CellMates dog!!

Chappie is a beautiful glossy black Flat Coat Retriever, around 2 years old. He has a temperament true to his breed and is a calm easy going boy who would be perfect for just about any home. Falling in love already? Don't wait - get your application in early for this beautiful boy- he's sure to be very popular! www.caninecellmates.org

Chappie is located in Atlanta, GA and is available for adoption immediately. He will be able to go to his forever home after graduation from the Canine CellMates program. Chappie is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his shots. Canine CellMates dogs are trained in items similar to the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. They learn basic obedience and commands such as sit, down, stay, go to place, and leave it. They are also crate trained. If you are interested in adopting Chappie, please fill out an adoption application at www.caninecellmates.org. or email adopt@caninecellmates.org for more information.
