Kermit was originally turned into the Hayward shelter as a stray. Being a very young dog, you could tell he wanted to love and be loved, but the stress and fear of being a shelter often overwhelmed him. He wasn't consistently comfortable being handled by shelter staff, so either a rescue group had to pull him or he would be euthanized.
Kermit was adopted out twice, each for a few months. The first family returned him because they were unable to work with or tolerate his marking in the house. We recommended "wrap" training for young male dogs who have a propensity to mark, but they weren't interested in doing any more work with him. The second time he was returned because the family got too busy for him. He didn't have any issues with house training (he was the only dog).
He is very playful, friendly and energetic. He loves to play with other dogs and they love to play with him. He does well with kids.
