My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlie is a 17 week old Chiweenie who came to us after his owners bought him on Craiglist, decided a puppy was too much for them, so were giving him away for free on Craigslist. Because we fear for the safety of dogs advertised for free on Craigslist, we snagged him up! Charlie is a typical happy, crazy, funny, silly, energetic puppy! He weights approximately 7 lbs. right now. He is learning to be crate trained and house trained, is almost finished with his final round of vaccinations, and will be microchipped and neutered in the very near future.

Child appropriate? Yes, but he is mouthy, like many puppies, and has sharp puppy teeth, so adopters with small children need to be mindful that he will likely mouth the children as he continues to learn.

Other dog appropriate? Yes! Charlie LOVES other dogs. At first he is a bit fearful, just because he's so tiny, but once he realizes the dog won't hurt him, he's over the moon! He loves racing around and playing chase and will bug other dogs to play with him.

Cat appropriate? We feel Charlie would be fine in a home with a cat since he can learn that cats are his friends while growing up.

How is he/she with strangers? He's fine with everyone. He's just a happy puppy :)

What is his/her play style? He's a crazy zoomster who races around and then runs up wanting you to play with him. He's a puppy, so he comes with all the high energy that puppies have so he plays hard and he sleeps hard. He likes his toys and treats and enjoys climbing all over people and giving kisses.

Does he/she like toys? Yes, so far he's been introduced to stuffy toys and mini bones.

Does he/she like water? Unknown at this time.

Does he/she like car rides? Charlie should be crated while in the car only because he is small and car rides are new to him. On the ride from his home to his foster home he did well but that is the only ride he's had so far.

Exercise level needed? He will need daily activity such as playing in the yard and taking him for walks. He is going to be a small dog at maybe 12 lbs or so, so he won't need the activity of a larger dog but he is active so he will need to be exercised daily to help prevent puppy behaviors such as chewing and other things.

Behavior issues? Charlie's only behavior issue is his puppy mouthing. This is very common for puppies and it just takes them a while to learn humans are not their teething ring!

Medical issues? None known.

Skills? Charlie is learning basic obedience and we are working on sitting and crating at this time.

Special/endearing things? He is utterly adorable, but aren't all puppies??!!! Charlie is so darn happy and has such a zest for life. As far as puppies go, he's potty training very well and even let's his foster know he has to go by whining in his crate. He's had only a couple accidents since coming to us which is amazing. He has also learned to crate by learning when he comes in from pottying and playing and his foster grabs a cookie it means he has to crate and he runs right in. He's just a super, duper sweet baby!

Ideal home: Charlie's ideal home will be one who is dedicated to keeping him for the rest of his life, which for small dogs could be 16 years or more. A home that is loving and will include Charlie in the family and let him live inside and sleep on the couch is a must! Tiny dogs deserve to be pampered and he should be protected. He should not be allowed outside off leash and responsible pet owners are required. A home with another dog would be nice to help Charlie learn dog manners would be nice.
