Kay's Story...

Kay weighs about 9 pounds and is 2.5 years old. Kay is playful and loves to play with other dogs after she finds her place in the pack. She gets very attached and loves to cuddle and sleep in the bed with her human. She walks well on leash and is kennel trained. Kay tends to attach to one human then takes a little more time to warm up to others in family and to strangers. She is still working on her manners when meeting new people. Kay is a BEAUTIFUL, gentle, and loving dog who will be happiest at her human's side. Kay came to us heartworm positive and has received treatment but is not quite ready to travel outside of Texas.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kay, a Houston Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Houston, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
