My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Laddie, a 7.5 month old, Border Collie boy looking for my forever home. Somehow I ended up in a rural North Carolina shelter with my brother. Lucky for us some nice people came and got us out of there! When I first got out of the shelter I was 20 pounds underweight! My foster mama has been working hard to fatten me up and I love to eat. I’ve gained nearly 10 lbs but still have a few more to go. My ideal weight is about 35 lbs, we’re almost there! At first I really missed my brother but I made fast friends with my foster siblings. I love to snuggle and play with them. I didn’t know what toys and bones were when I arrived at my foster home. I never had any before I came here. I’m learning that it’s fun to play with toys and balls and chew on bones. I’m doing well with my house training. My foster mom gives me lots of potty breaks. At night I sleep in my crate without fussing and never have accidents in my crate. I don’t like to be in the crate when my foster family leaves the house though. I bark and pant and bite at the crate. My foster mom was worried I’d hurt myself so she decided to try baby gating the door to our room instead. Guess what? I jumped over it and made myself comfy on the sofa. I’d like to have a home where my family doesn’t need to leave me in a crate for very long. I LOVE other dogs. There are 5 other dogs in my foster home, big and small, and I love them all! I love to play and chase and wrestle with them. After a good romp I’m happy to chew on a bone or take a good nap. I haven’t met any cats so I’m not sure what I’d think of them. I’m a happy-go-lucky fella but sometimes I’m a little shy with strangers. I warm up if you give me a little time, and a treat. Some of my favorites are raw carrots and watermelon, yum! I have lots to say and am very talkative when something is interesting or fun. I love to snuggle. Have a seat on the couch and I’ll show you! My ideal home: • Lots of play time, love and exercise • Continued training using positive reinforcement • No apartments • Fenced yard • A canine buddy to romp and play with • No young children • Owners home more often than not • A lifetime of love and snuggles I will be ready for my forever home in a few weeks when I have all of my vetting complete. I am fostered in Lincolnton, NC and my adoption fee is $250.00. Please visit the website at www.prbcr.org
