Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Caspian, a 38 lb, 10 month old Australian, possibly Heeler mix with striking red merle coloring and gorgeous golden eyes. He is a sociable, energetic, silly and affectionate young boy. He loves running, playing with other dogs, and jogging with his person but his most favorite thing to do is be cuddling and close to you-leaning on you, sitting on your feet or in your arms getting ear scratches and belly rubs.
He arrived a blank slate in the training department but is smart and quick to learn. He is beginning to master sit, come, leash walking and house training. He sleeps in his crate but would prefer to sleep on his bed next to yours. He enjoys his chew toys and has been great about sticking to his own toys and ignoring all the other forbidden treasures in the house. He does very well in the car and loves to go for rides.
Caspian would do best with an active family who like to walk, jog, hike, and enjoys the outdoors. He should have a person or family familiar with this smart, energetic breed. He loves everyone he meets-adults, kids and other dogs. Due to his youthful exuberance he would do better with kids over 10-12 and if there are other dogs in the family, larger dogs. He needs a fenced yard (not an electric fence). (An adoption donation of $300 is required.)
If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form https://www.chewdogrescue.org/index.php/adopt. If you have previously submitted an application form, there is no need to re-apply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations, before being placed in their forever homes.
