My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kizzy, or Busy Kizzy, is the cutest little dachsund, a year old or a little less. We were drawn to her enthusiasm and confidence when we brought her out to test her. Kizzy loves to train and learn, and she will work tirelessly for her handler as long as she is being challenged. She is a fast learner, and is very confident — she has no problem telling other dogs to behave! Kizzy has no idea that she is the smallest dog in class!! She is very attentive and likes her toys. She checks on her side kick Jade regularly, but then goes back to play, which she loves!! She loves to play with people, and with other dogs - all of the other dogs!! She is ridiculously cute, and we are sure this cutie pie will be very popular!

It is the policy of the shelter not to separate dogs that come in together, unless there is a compelling reason. Because of that Kizzy and her friend Jade (also available for adoption through Canine CellMates)  were at the shelter for 3 weeks with no interest. Most people are not in a position to adopt 2 dogs. We decided to test them, and were delighted when they both passed our temperament assessment!! These two pups are young, both of them a year or less, and are happy, loving puppies. Do they like each other? Of course! Do they like other dogs? Absolutely!! Do they both LOVE people? Yep! So while it would be a happy ending to their story to be adopted to the same home, we are willing to consider individual adoptions to the right homes for both of them. The most important thing is that the home or homes is the right one for them. These two deserve to be loved and spoiled for the rest of their lives - together or separately!!

Kizzy is located in Atlanta, GA and is available for adoption immediately. She will be able to go to her forever home after graduation from the Canine CellMates program. Kizzy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her shots. Canine CellMates dogs are trained in items similar to the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. They learn basic obedience and commands such as sit, down, stay, go to place, and leave it. They are also crate trained. If you are interested in adopting Kizzy, please fill out an adoption application at www.caninecellmates.org. or email adopt@caninecellmates.org for more information.
