My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elsie was living on the streets of Mansfield when we scooped her and her mother, Bessie, up because they had upper respiratory infections. Elsie is around 11 months old as of June 2017 & does well with her cat pal Fry and cat-friendly dogs. She is quite social & loves to cuddle & chase laser pointers. She weighs in at just over 6 lbs. Like her mom, Elsie is FIV+.

Please do not let FIV scare you. It is not a death sentence by any means, and it is not casually spread to other cats. We know several people who have non FIV+ and FIV+ cats living together. The research supports this is ok when aggression (that would lead to deep bite wounds) is not an issue. The main thing would be to keep Elsie's immune system strong with a good diet, good oral hygiene, and an indoor home. Please consider opening your heart and home to Elsie.

MAWL's cats are spayed/neutered, leukemia/FIV-tested, dewormed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. The cats we offer for adoption are usually the offspring of feral cats or house cats that have been abandoned by their former owners. Unless otherwise noted, our cats are available to inside homes only. We prefer to adopt our animals to residents of Ohio. An adoption donation of $75.00 helps to cover the veterinary fees.
