My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Bella. I’m only four and a half years old but I’ve already had so many adventures in a short space of time!

I was rescued from the tough streets of Thailand in 2013. After living at Soi Dog Foundation’s shelter in Phuket for over two years, I travelled to my new home in Canada in December 2015.

Sadly, my owners are no longer able to take care of me and so I’m hoping to find a new home in Canada. I can be shy at first, but I am sweet and affectionate once I get to know you. I prefer a calm environment with no surprises, so a home with an experienced owner who understands my needs would suit me best.

I am used to the routines of a home, although I strangers can sometimes make me feel uncomfortable. When a new person visits my home, I usually hide in my bed until they have gone. But once I get to know someone, I’m very happy for them to give me cuddle! I enjoy my walks, and am used to walking on a leash, but things like traffic can still make me jump. A home in a quiet neighbourhood would be ideal for me. I can be wary when I meet unfamiliar dogs, but once we’ve gotten to know each other, I love to run around and play with my doggy friends.

Perhaps we could go on gentle walks together, with lots of praise and treats (I LOVE treats) to help me build my confidence. Maybe we could attend a doggy class together when I’m ready, to help me get used to meeting new dogs and new people? Followed by snuggles under a blanket and belly rubs - my favourite!
