My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Danny Boy. He came into UYR from a hoarding situation. Danny Boy is 3 years old and weighs 10 lbs. His adoption fee is $425. He is being fostered in Seminole, FL.

UPDATED BIO 09/27/2017: Danny Boy here – checking in. I am no longer anemic and will be neutered very soon.

Foster mom is trying to teach me to go outside to do my business. I think I understand what she wants, so I go to the back door like a good boy and she takes me outside – I like it out there! I like to roll in the grass and bark at the squirrels.

Ya’ll may know that we had a bad hurricane named Irma come through Florida recently. I did not like that girl! Foster mom put me in my crate to keep me safe. But when the bad part hit, I wanted out and next to her. I am kinda used to crates since I lived in one before UYR rescued me and brought me to my foster home. Crates are OK – but I really just want to be next to my foster mom. She has 2 cats and another fur baby. They are OK. But I like being with her – a lot. She pets me and plays with me and I really like the attention. I never had much of that in my former home since there were so many other doggies there.

Foster Mom promises me that my forever home is out there and that they will love me as much as she does. Are you that family? Do you want a dog that is loyal and wants to love you forevermore? If so, click on the link for the Adoption Application …. Go ahead. Do it now.

NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM: Danny Boy is a love. He follows me around everywhere and takes every chance he has to lick/kiss my hand to show me how much he loves me. Danny Boy is a very loyal companion and has displayed some guarding behavior when others approach me.

Please don’t turn away from this sweet boy because of this behavior. His life before he came into rescue was very horrible and once he experienced the unconditional love of a person, he latched onto that and is afraid someone will take that away from him. For this reason, Danny Boy cannot be adopted into a home with children of any age. He needs an owner who will continue to work with him on this guarding behavior and who will put him in “time out” when he takes his job too seriously. More than anything else in this world, Danny Boy wants to be with his person, and will learn quickly that this inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.

UPDATED BIO 09/18/2017: Danny Boy here. Since I last checked in, I have been to the vet to get my updated vaccinations and blood tests. They said I was too anemic at that time to get neutered – whatever that means. So my foster mom is giving me iron supplements and some really good food she makes especially for me so I won’t be anemic anymore.

What I did not like was that storm named Irma. It was really loud. I am not afraid of rain and thunder like my foster fur-sister, but I didn’t like the sound of that storm! Foster mom put me in my crate to keep me safe. But when the bad part hit, I wanted out and next to her. INITIAL BIO 08/12/2017: Danny Boy here. It’s been a B-I-G day for me today. Some nice people scooped me up, along with all the other doggies in our house. Then they loaded us in separate crates, and I landed here with my friend Squirt. When I got to my foster home, my Foster Mom gave me a bath right away – I was pretty stinky and had lots of those pesky fleas on me. My Foster Dad held me for a while – that was really nice - and then he took me out in the back yard.

I’m back in my crate now, but this time I have a nice-smelling and comfy doggie bed in here and I’m eating yummy food. Foster Mom says I have a vet appointment on Monday and then I can join the rest of the family. She said to stay tuned. I will let you know what my new family is like after I get to know them a little bit better. Stay tuned, haha……….

INITIAL BIO 08/12/2017: Danny Boy came into UYR today from an horrendous hoarding situation . Please watch our website for pictures and updates very soon.

PLEASE NOTE: UYR took in a total of 11 dogs today from this hoarding situation, including Danny Boy. None of these dogs received any routine veterinarian care and all will need to receive vaccinations, worming, microchips, dentals, fecals, HW testing and will be altered. Please help us help Danny Boy and the other precious yorkies taken in today by donating to their vetting expenses, which will be very high due to the number of dogs coming in today. No donation is too small. You can donate to any of these dogs by clicking on the Donation Button below. Thank you from Danny Boy and the other dogs, and especially from the folks at United Yorkie Rescue who participated in their rescue/transport and to the foster moms and dads who so eagerly stepped forward to foster these very needy little dogs.
