We bought Oakley from a farm in Spotsylvania, VA where the parents are working dogs (purebred Great Pyrenees). We brought him home when he was 8 weeks old (his birthday is Nov 10, 2016) and thought we would be able to work with him to be a good domestic dog. He is sweet and loving, but he needs the amount of training and space I can't provide. I travel for work, and training a dog is not in my wife's skill set. He needs to find a place with owners that understand the breed and can work with him, or a nice farm with other Great Pyrenees where he can be put to work.
Strengths
- loves people and being with people
- has not had an accident in the house for months
Weaknesses
- Discipline with chewing things he shouldn't. This may get better with time.
- We have not been able to get him to stay in a crate. He goes into high anxiety mode and will hurt himself trying to get out of the crate. We have tried everything we can to get him used to the crate, but it just does not work.
