Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Theo is a handsome chow/golden retriever mix who was born in May 2016 and weighs around 40 pounds. As a young puppy, Theo was taken to a large shelter after he was picked up as a stray, sick and unable to use his right rear leg. At the shelter, he was diagnosed with a fracture of his right femoral head and the shelter performed FHO surgery. Later, the shelter determined that he also had an abnormality with his left rear leg, and right front leg. At that point, the shelter reached out to our rescue to take Theo.
Since then, Theo has been evaluated by our veterinarian and we have given him time to grow and mature. Theo does walk a little funny but gets around fine and is not in pain. It is possible that he may need FHO surgery at some point in time on his left rear leg, but it is currently functioning well. His right front leg appears to have a congenital abnormality which makes it shorter than the left leg so he has a bit of a limp. Quite simply, Theo didn’t get the best bone structure! But for what Theo lacks in good genetics, he more than makes up for with his winning personality. Theo is a super happy, friendly dog. He loves people and other dogs. He loves cats a little too much so would be better in a home without them.
Theo is crate trained and housebroken. He’s not going to be your long distance hiking partner, but he’ll be happy to go on walks with you, ride in the car, and meet new people. The vet suggests that he receive a daily glucosamine supplement, appropriate exercise (maybe even swimming?), and maintain his current healthy weight. Theo hasn’t had the best start in life but he is a wonderful dog who is ready for the forever home he deserves. For information, contact Patti at 602-943-7059 or rcartfam@aol.com.
