Sweet little Phoebe was an outdoor dog who spent her entire life in a pen. She was rescued with her mom, Delilah, who’s also a WDR dog, and currently being fostered in N. VA. A concerned neighbor reached out to our SC team for help with the dogs as she grew more concerned for their safety. The owner had stopped feeding them regularly, they didn't have clean water, and their only shelter was an old barrel. Their owner clearly was not concerned for their welfare, but was also reluctant to give them up. It took the tragic event of another dog dying in that pen to get Phoebe and her mom out. Thankfully, they’re both in foster homes now and doing well.
Phoebe's foster mom describes her as a great pup: "She's loving, follows us around, gives kisses, gets along great with my dogs, she's quiet in her crate at night, and loves to romp and play in the yard." When Phoebe first arrived at her foster home she was a little standoffish, not having lived in a home with people, but after a few days she learned the love of snuggling and lets her foster mom pick her up. She's great with the teen girls in her home, has almost perfected her potty training (weeks with no accidents), and has learned to let her foster mom know when she needs to go outside.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
