Meet Piper!

This sweet girl is hoping for a fresh start at life. She was rescued when her owners surrendered her after not being able to care for her any longer. Her and her two brothers are now looking for homes of their own.

Piper is a sweet, loveable puppy, though her size makes you believe otherwise! She weighs in currently at 80 lbs, but she's still growing! Her dad was Duke, a mastiff/Anatolian mix, and her mother a purebred redbone hound. Her dad tops at 125 lbs so we expect her to get close to that number once she's filled out. She is only 10 months old, so she still has some growing to do for sure!

Like most dogs, she is very sweet and has a great disposition. She gets along with all people big and small. She has been a home with children ages 1-16 yrs and been great with all of them. Growing up with big pesky brothers, she is used to many dogs of all shapes and sizes. Since she is a hound, she can be a little over personal when it comes to space and smaller dogs being frightened. However, she isn't aggressive at all she's mostly just a big pushy puppy. She plays great with dogs her own size and enjoys all things fun. She doesn't mind cats as long as they are well socialized with dogs. If they were to be frightened or run she would most likely given chase just because she is a puppy and likes to play. However, we don't foresee aggression, as she responds great when we give her a vocal correction. She respects their space and leaves them alone when they ask her too. So a home with kids, cats, or dogs or maybe a little of some or all of these would be a great fit for Puddin pop!

Piper is young, but is fully capable of learning. She grew up mostly on the streets as her original owners didn't do such a great job of keeping her contained. When we first got her, she was terrified of a leash, wouldn't kennel, and was horrible about the furniture and the counters. Now, she is great indoors and respects the furniture and the rules of the house. She tries to smell the trash can and get into it but a clap and a firm "No Ma'am" and she lays down with a chew instead. She is great on leash but sometimes if she gets nervous she will try to put on the brakes. A simple pat on the head and some reassurance and she is right back with us. She is great in a kennel now and knows how to kennel, and settle down when work is going on. She doesn't mind eating in her kennel and prefers it over eating outside of it since she can be a little possessive with other dogs about her food, due to her brothers and her having to fight for food when they lived outdoors. She has done a lot better but to avoid any unwanted behavior, we feed her in her kennel and she is happy with that!

She is fully vetted, meaning she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. For more information on how to adopt Piper, please contact us at KMCRescue@Gmail.com!
