My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Emily is a Havanese or Maltese Mix. She was found as a stray in Aurora covered in fleas with her hair all in mats. She was adopted from Aurora Animal Control by an IBR foster family and soon after they noticed some behavior issues. When I met her, I noticed she seemed a little neurological. As this family decided they couldn't keep her with small kids, she went to my vet and had some blood work done which showed Emily was infected with Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Now that she is being treated, her whole demeanor is changing and she is getting a lot of energy back. She really was a sick little camper, but is getting better and stronger every day.

We are looking for a thoughtful educated adopter that will keep up with her long term antibiotics treatment for Miss Emily so that her brain and body can continue to heal. Our vet is located in Orland Park and we would like to keep her in the area so that she can have annual visits with Dr. John as needed. Emily is great with most dogs and cats. She is also doing well with the 3 year old in the home-- but a home with older kids would be preferred. Please message me privately for more information.
