My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxie is a 6-month old female miniature American Eskimo. She currently weighs 9 lbs, expected to be around 12 lbs. when she’s full grown. Roxie came to us as a 3-month old “Tripod”, her left back leg amputated when she was just 2 months old due to a fracture. When she suffered a second fracture to her other back leg, a month later, her owner made the decision to surrender her to rescue. She had a cast applied for the second fracture and fortunately her leg healed without surgery.

It will be important for anyone interested in adopting Roxie to understand she is at a greater risk for fractures as her small bones are still maturing and strengthening. She's so happy and full of energy she likes to run at lightning speed and can leap out of your arms in the blink of an eye which is how she suffered two fractures at such an early age! This sweet baby has been through so much already, her new family will need to be very cautious to keep her safe and avoid re-injury.

Roxie is a very intelligent dog, great at keeping herself busy with her toys but also needs a family that can keep her challenged and entertained. Roxie LOVES people, snuggling and giving kisses. She will be your shadow wherever you go and as a result may get underfoot so great care is needed to avoid stepping on her.

Roxie is mostly house trained but still has puppy accidents if she waits too long to go out. She does fine overnight.

She is not crate-trained but comes with her own "pack n' play" where she is happy and safe when she is left alone.

If you haven't already figured it out, Roxie is a very special little girl AND she knows it! She is so loving and sweet and we are very committed to finding just the right forever home for her. She will make an amazing companion for some lucky family!

REQUIREMENTS (NO EXCEPTIONS) for Roxie:
A family that is home more than they are gone. She is happiest when she’s not left alone all day.
Patience and willingness to hand feed her to make sure she eats. She is a picky eater and does best with smaller/frequent meals.
Regular grooming and brushing. She does shed!
Since Roxie tends to get underfoot, she will need a home without children under the age of 15 or older adults who would have difficulty side-stepping this little ball of energy.
A home with at least one other smaller dog, under 25 lbs, Now that she has recovered from her surgeries we see how much she enjoys playing with the dogs in her foster home.
Doggie stairs for the bed and couch or she will jump.
Carpeted home, non-slip floors and/or area rugs.
Local adoption only. Must live within 1 hour driving distance of Cleveland area.
Securely fenced yard, no invisible fencing.

WE WILL NOT CONSIDER APPLICATIONS unless ALL requirements are met.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at
https://dogsunlimited.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application-for-dogs-unlimited-rescue/

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
