My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JJ is a 5-year-old neutered male black lab. JJ weighs 43 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: No Fence Required

JJ is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. For now, to avoid this, we are limiting placement to standalone, single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. After JJ has been in a foster home for at least a week or two, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

Sep 29, 2017: Introducing JJ, from Texas! No, not the football player, but the foster dog! JJ is the sweetest boy and is well behaved. So far he has excelled at settling into his new digs; he walks well on the leash, gets along with both resident Labs and slept all night in the crate. And all done with no penalties!

Sep 15, 2017: JJ was rescued from Houston Texas following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. He was in a Houston-area shelter prior to the hurricane and was available for adoption at the time the hurricane struck. He was transferred to a Houston Pets Alive temporary facility to make space for the shelters to hold dogs displaced by flooding in hopes that those dogs can be reunited with their families.

JJ is a 5 year old black neutered male. He was neutered on 9/19 and needs to take it easy until 9/29. He is current on vaccines and will need a Distemper, Lepto, and Bordetella booster between 10/5-10/12. He is being treated for a left ear infection. He has dental disease and will have a dental after he is treated for heartworms. JJ tested positive for heartworms. Lab Rescue will provide JJ's Heartworm treatment, at no cost to the adopter, at one of our designated vets. The requirement to treat the dog at Lab Rescue's vet is included in the contract's "Heartworm Treatment Addendum". Adopters are encouraged to speak with the Lab Rescue Heartworm Coordinator prior to adoption to learn more about the treatment process. JJ weighs 43 pounds.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.

Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.

An adoption fee is charged to cover the cost of veterinary care and a home visit is required.
