My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CHEROKEE CAN BE SEEN DAILY AT THE OLIVETTE , MO BENTLEY'S PET STUFF STORE.  Cherokee is about 5 years old and is the biggest flirt and love sponge you have ever seen! He rolls over and over and over, all the while chirping at you to please please please come and pet him! He is a gentle boy, and gets along well with other cats. He lives in a house with two dogs. He loves to play with toys and be brushed. He has lots of soft fluffy grey and white fur! He had to have his teeth removed due to stomatitis, but he still eats regular cat food and is doing just fine.

Cherokee tests positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which is a feline only, slow-acting virus. FIV simply means a cat's immune system MAY be compromised somewhere down the road or it may never affect the cat. Most cats that test positive for FIV live long, healthy lives and usually die from age-related diseases. A common misconception is that FIV is like AIDS. If cats with FIV are kept indoors all the time and receive regular vet check-ups (at least annually) and other vet care the need may occur, they can live long lives. They can also live with negative cats! Read more about FIV here.  To learn more about Cherokee or to complete our on line adoption application please go to catnetwork.org
