Meet Bubba!
Bubba is a 16lb Black Lab mix looking for a home that welcomes his puppy energy. He is only 11 wks old and is puppy through and through. He loves to chase after his squeak toys, balls and loves to chew on rawhides, when he’s done with those he loves to roll around and play with his sibling Nubbins also up for adoption.
He gets along great with other dogs, cats and with children but because of his high energy level he should be monitored around smaller children.
Bubba tolerates being gated in another room but prefers to be out and active with his people. He is more than willing to snuggle with you on the sofa or lay at your feet. He will follow you from room to room to be nearby and is truly a lap dog smothering you with all the kisses you’ll allow him to or roll over for belly rubs.
Still working on house-training but Bubba is getting better every day, we have almost eliminated accidents by teaching him to go on potty pads and going outside every few hours giving positive praise for “potty outside”.
Bubba is still learning leash manners and gets pretty excited when he’s out for walks, he eventually settles into a walking rhythm but needs to be reminded at first not to pull.
He is very treat and toy motivated and through these training methods we are working on our general manners of sit, stay, down and no. Consistency is the key and he is getting better every day.

Canine Cupids is a rescue in Milwaukee that is comprised of volunteers who have been fostering for various organizations and volunteering at our local animal control. Canine Cupids focuses on Milwaukee’s homeless dogs, but will always help a dog in need when we can — regardless of location.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification:
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
