How about those Houston Astros! Like his namesake, Astro is full of personality just waiting to be let out to be a star! He and his brother, Orbit, were found alone on the side of a rural road. It was late in the day and no one could take to a shelter or keep. They were in such bad shape, extremely emaciated and dehydrated, we had to help them out. Just a month later, these boys have packed on enough weight, are finishing up their vetting, and will be ready to go!

Astro is a sweet little guy, weighing in at only 25-30 lbs and is only 7-8months of age. He will stay a smaller guy as he and his brother are some type of cattle dogs and maybe a little Basenji. He is a little shy at first as these boys were extremely undersocialized. When we met them, you can tell they were fending for themselves for quite some time and had no concept of attention, affection, or a home. Slowly they have come out of their shell and learned to adore affection from people. They love to sit in your lap and cuddle, or give cute quick puppy kisses before scurrying off to play.

Since he is a young pup, learning and working with him should be a breeze. He gets along well with other dogs once he knows they are friendly. He can be a little nervous or shy at first, since all he knew was his brother, but he is doing better at meeting other new dogs! He is currently in a foster home that is helping to socialize him and help him not be so shy! Once he's met, they are his new best friend and he loves to go outside in the yard and run and play together! He also doesn't mind cats at all, as he has had very limited exposure to them prior to rescue. So far he has gotten along fine with his foster kitty siblings, and is learning how to respect their space and be gentle! His foster home also has two children who are under the ages of 15 and he has been great with any and all people he has met! He's just a pup that needs to learn more about what a REAL family is!

Astro is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. He is now ready for his new family and home just in time for Christmas!
