My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy is a 7 year old female Great Pyrenees. She weighs about 92 pounds. She was frightened and lashed out at most things when she got to her foster home because she had been suddenly taken away from her family (owner surrender). They could no longer keep her due to major changes in their lives. With a little patience she has been slowly re-introduced to her new world. She has been exposed to lots of new people and places and has gotten more interested in meeting people. Lucy is in great shape and walks miles each night with the rest of her foster pack.

Lucy is fine with cats, children and other dogs as long as they are introduced slowly. (She warmed up to my non-alpha male Pyr right away.)

Lucy will need a slow introduction to her “furever” people and location. Preferably over a few visits. Once she is comfortable she will be a wonderful companion. She wants to be with the family, loves being petted and part of the crowd. She enjoys going on long walks and they help to reduce her anxiety issues.

Lucy hates being crated, but is house trained. She is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. The adopted family will need to muzzle her if she has to go to the vet. That is her scariest place to be. Anti-anxiety medicine is working well in the stressful holidays and all the visitors.

Lucy needs an experienced adopter, familiar with the Great Pyrenees breed and their temperament and behaviors. She needs a family willing to work with her on her trust issues in order for her to be happy with her place in the home.

An adoption application, site visit, secure visible fencing, and an adoption fee are required to adopt Lucy.
