My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spuds is a schnauzer/terrier mix of approx 3 years and 38 lbs... Spuds has had a rough time. He was abandoned to fend for himself on the streets and was seen wandering for months before a good Samaritan was able to gain his trust and rescue him. When we took him in he had heartworms which we treated and a diaphragmatic hernia which required extensive surgery but was successfully treated.

He was adopted but after a year was recently returned to our rescue. His owners said he suddenly did not get along with their other dog and had become territorial in their house toward strangers. They said he did fine outside of the house, at the dog park, the vets etc. and outside the house, he had no issues at all with people or dogs.

Here is what we have seen since taking him back - he has been the sweetest dog and has craved attention. He gets along with the other rescue. At times he does not like sharing his treats with certain dogs - he is selective. The ideal home for him is one that probably does not have another dog and with an experienced owner that can work on his territorial issues and give him lots of affection and some training. He is house trained and leash trained and we would require a home with no children under the age of 12 years.

The total adoption cost of $525 includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration . The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. All our dogs are in foster care, there is no physical shelter. Some have not yet arrived in PA. Our application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/
