Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shaggy is six years old; he was abandoned at 8 weeks in the farm country. I brought him in and started him on solid foods. I named him Shaggy because, at the time, he had such a shaggy coat, and he always seemed hungry like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. I'm the only Mom he knows; giving him up has been one of the hardest decisions I've had to make...
He would do well in a quiet, consistent home with an owner who is patient enough to earn his trust and can invest the time to nurture a bond with him. He is wary of humans and can be aggressive or fearless toward other animals. When afraid, he has been known to bite those he does not trust. He plays aggressively, but would pair well with another cat who is game for frequent play/company, and who has a less dominant personality.
Since I'm his "mommy", he likes to snuggle on my lap and play fetch with his little fuzzy toys. He is not keen on being picked up. He is also very protective of me and of my home. (I once watched him chase down a rather large German shepherd that had gotten a bit too close to our back porch) He enjoys hiding under blankets, and is pretty vocal about his meal times. He likes sitting in the high places, hiding in the dark spaces, and running about the house at 3am. He is also very fond of warm piles/baskets of laundry. (he likes to "help" with the laundry) He is VERY curious, and likes to explore all you are doing.
Grooming is easy: he enjoys being brushed and is used to having his nails trimmed. He likes to scratch on carpet and his cat tower, but not on furniture. He is litter box trained and DOES NOT pee anywhere else in the house. Since he was brought in as a stray, he has been kept as an indoor/outdoor cat; he prefers daily outtings. He is prone to catching wildlife and bringing it into the house--dead or alive. He eats a mix of wet and dry food, but you'll have to keep the food under lock and key because he will tear open a whole bag of kibble. This one knows how to open cupboards, and will regularly open them all for fun. He also has figured out a way around the child safety latch.
I'm hoping he finds a home that can offer him the detailed care he needs, a home with amenities similar to those which he currently enjoys so as not to significantly disrupt the lifestyle to which he has become accustomed. I will send along with him his brush, food bowl and food, favourite toys, litter box, and one of his favourite blankets.
