Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Zumi (Sammi as he is called by his foster family) is growing up. He arrived in rescue aged about 11 months, and he is 18 months old now and has filled out nicely. No longer is he a scared little puppy, but he is a somewhat scared young adult in certain situations and will need guidance and patience to help him continue to blossom.
Zumi/Sammi has made great progress since his rescue last November. He is well behaved in the house and tolerates being alone 6 to 8 hours while his foster family is at work. He is not destructive and checking on him via the Nest camera throughout the day reveals his routines of chewing his toys or bones and determining if he should nap in the crate, on the bed, or right on the floor.
He is well integrated with the resident dogs and they spend supervised time together as well sleeping together throughout the night.
Zumi/Sammi knows his basic commands of sit, down, paw, “look at me”, and wait. He will sit and wait to go through doors and gates.
He does have his some issues however. He much prefers walks early in the morning or late at night when it is quiet outside. The world in general presents a myriad of stimuli that can scare him. This will make walks somewhat unpleasant as you work to reassure him and coax him along.
While we consider him house broken, he still may pee when you come home out of submission/excitement.
He has a hard time trusting people. But once he does, he can be very loving on his terms.
He does not let just anyone pet him and he will bark at certain people that move too fast.
Zumi needs a strong and confident leader to help him grow into a strong and confident adult dog. Someone with past experience with tricky dogs would be great. Someone that works from home often would be good for him.
He has a high prey drive, typical for the breed. While he is currently living with cats, they are sequestered and he cannot get to them. Small dogs could also viewed as over-stimulating. Larger dogs will require slow and careful introduction. He is very playful with the resident dogs and would do best with dogs that match his size and enthusiasm.
Small children are a no go, as he is fearful of them, but older, dog-savvy children could do fine, providing they are willing to be guided by confident adults.
