My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***PLEASE READ: Dot does not get along with other animals. She is not suitable for a home that already has pets. This could potentially be corrected with training, but unless you are prepared to take such training on, please DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE PETS.***

It's breaking my family's heart but we need to rehome our pet ASAP because my allergies have considerably worsened and have led to asthma.

I feel so foolish and guilty because I truly thought Dot was a miracle dog--the only dog I wasn't allergic to--because I had virtually no symptoms for over a year. But as we approach the two-year mark, I've been dealing with breathing issues.

Dot is a sweet, docile, and intuitive dog and deserves the best home. I'm hoping someone we trust or that can be vetted will be a good match. Here are the facts:

• Female, large German Shepherd / Labrador Retriever mix
• Approx 60 pounds w a medium coat
• Has been spayed, chipped, has all her shots, and is house-trained
• Age approximated at 4 years, 6 months
• Is aggressive toward other animals
• Great with all ages and new people, extremely friendly
• Has completed formal obedience training and responds to sit, stay, down, and come
• No known medical conditions, not on any medications

Although she does enjoy being active, playing, and running around outside, she's not hyper. She is mostly chill around the house and loves to be petted and brushed.

Dot was a rescue so there are some things about her we don't know. She does seem undersocialized because she can be aggressive toward other animals. There was one occasion when we first got her where she slipped out of her leash while we were at the beach and nipped at another dog who barked at her. There were no visible injuries, and we haven't had another incident since. During her training she was able to walk among a pack of dogs, suggesting that with more training and exposure this is a potentially correctable trait. This wasn't something we prioritized pursuing though given that we have no other pets.

Do you think Dot would be a good fit you? Or do you know someone who can love our sweet girl? 🐶💕
