Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Cody" is a handsome, 9-yo (born 7-7-08) neutered male GSD who is happy, devoted and mellow. Cody is very friendly with everyone he meets, and would be a great therapy dog. His foster caretaker states that Cody "is the happiest creature on earth: very social, inquisitive, and doesn’t ask for much--just be with his person."
Cody is great with other dogs, and presently lives in a foster home with four dogs, including a small dog. Cody previously lived at GSRSV's rescue ranch, and was always good with the dogs there.
Cody is good with his foster caretaker's cats, so I will consider a home with cats for him.
Cody is housetrained and his house manners are impeccable. He's had access to the outside via a dog door at both GSRSV's ranch and his current foster home, but would surely be OK inside in a house w/out a dog door.
Cody has polite leash skills and is non-reactive when he sees other dogs. He's comfortable walking through a crowd of people or just hanging out with his person. He's well-mannered in a vehicle and loves to go for rides.
Cody loves to play fetch--his favorite toy in his former home was a flattened football. Cody is in great shape for his age-- he's a "straight-backed" GSD w/ no visible signs of hip dysplasia, and runs as well as walks.
GSRSV began boarding Cody (along w/ his mate "Jenna") back in Dec 2016 when his owner decided he could no longer keep them. After awhile, GSRSV assumed ownership of both dogs. Unfortunately, Jenna passed away in March but Cody took it in stride. A foster caretaker took Cody in to her home in November 2017, where he's living now.
Cody is located in Rancho Cordova. His adoption fee is $160.
