Ivan is a handsome, young Husky boy who found himself in the shelter through no fault of his own. His previous owner surrendered him to the shelter for reasons unknown to us, so we have little information about his prior life and are focusing on learning about his personality.
The shelter reported that he does not like to be restrained (who does, especially in a shelter setting where you are likely to be scared) and appeared to show some dominance. This could, in part, be due to his not yet having been neutered at the time.
Ivan is not aggressive at all towards humans and is very friendly. He is intelligent and already knows sit, stay, shake, and will catch treats.... indicating he could easily be trained for other commands. He has some house manners but still needs a little work when it comes to counter surfing or getting into the trash to find out why you are throwing away something that he finds interesting.
He gets along well with other dogs; his foster has not seen him show an alpha personality toward his foster siblings. In fact, Ivan LOVES to play with other dogs! Being a young Husky he has lots of energy but settles down when everyone is done playing. His favorite toy is anything that squeaks, especially his squeaky ball.
Ivan is on the smaller side for a male but he will fill out a bit more as he is still in his puppyhood. He gobbles up his food as if he hasn't eaten in days, so we recommend a slow feeder until he starts eating at a more moderate pace. Ivan does not care for the crate and being left alone but will go in and settle down after a period of time. Once he matures and all his house manners are developed then he, like most Huskies, will probably not need a crate.
