My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sheyna! Our newest family member! Ten years young and as sweet as they come. Her former owner developed Alzheimers and could no longer care for her. :( Time to find her a new Forever Home, and given how amazing she is, we don't think it will take that long!!

She's really a wonderful girl who loves people and gets along well with other dogs, big and small. Super quiet and calm. Loves to go for walks, easily managing a mile. With a little more exercise, she'll strengthen her muscles and we're certain she'll be able to manage longer walks. Lots of energy, and frankly, she'll take you on the walk! She needs to lose ten pounds (couldn't we all?!?). The walking will help, and we've got her on special food right now. Completely house-trained. Loves to follow her human around the house and loves to be pet. A comfy bed is about all she needs. Just a joy to be around. Lovely, lovely girl with a beautiful smile!

First thing we did was take her to our vet for a check-up. Nothing inconsistent with her age. X-rays revealed that she has a moderate case of hip dysplasia, which is very common in large breed pups like Sheyna. The vet subscribed Rimadyl, which is helping with any pain and increasing mobility. She actually gets around pretty well. Jumping out of an SUV was a little challenging, but she can easily get up and down from a sofa. Check-out the video to see her walk/run. Losing a bit of weight will help her out tremendously! She also has a little issue with her lower eyelid (ectropion), which we're treating with medicine. We had a full panel of blood work done, and the vet said the results were "very good." Great to hear. If you're looking for a friendly face to great you when you come home, you've found the perfect pup! Just can't say enough good things about her.
