My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Desiree is a 2 year old petite red/rust Doberman with floppy ears and a docked tail. Desiree is affectionately known as the “Energizer Bunny” by her foster family! She is a true “velcro” Doberman only wanting to be where you are. She loves to play with toys! Whether it’s playing fetch, tugging or chewing she is happiest with a toy in her mouth. Desiree is quickly learning basic obedience skills like sit, come, down, stay, watch me, leave it, give (the toy) and off (bed/furniture). She is also continuing to work on not jumping to get attention. She is highly food motivated which makes her easy to train.

Desiree is also learning to walk nicely on a leash without pulling. She is very nervous around new people and situations and can be slightly reactive. She is learning to “watch me” and “sit” when we see strangers on a walk and is catching on very well. She lacks socialization and confidence and needs a home that will provide consistent training and structure. Desiree rides okay in the car with a harness and seatbelt attachment. She is house and crate trained, only whining occasionally and will quickly quite down with a correction or two.

Desiree has a lot of energy and would make a great running partner or agility dog. Her forever family should be active! She would benefit from a house with a yard so she can do lots of running, playing and training. Because of her energy level and need for lots of training, Desiree will need to go to an experienced dog owner. Desiree’s forever family also needs to be kid and cat free. It would be best for Desiree to have a male dog companion. She is currently being fostered with a 3 year old male dog and they get along great. Another dog in the house has given her confidence and companionship and also has helped “show her the ropes”. Please consider opening your heart and home to this young pup!
