My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppy is a handsome neutered boy who is looking to meet a companion and find his forever family. (We will not adopt him out alone.) Poppy is orange with a black face and was born in the Rescue in early July. It has been a joy to watch him grow from a 4-ounce baby into a little man!

Poppy is a bit shy but becomes more friendly and outgoing once he gets to know you. He likes lap time and crawling up to snuggle on your shoulder. Poppy also loves snuggling in his fleece sleeping bag and he will appreciate a fleece bed in his new forever home. He starts squeaking as soon as he hears a vegetable bag crinkling! He grew up with his cousin Biscotti but, unfortunately, as they matured they started fighting – as many boys do as the hormones surge! Poppy will do well with a female piggie but not with another male.

Poppy has an excellent appetite for their Oxbow Young Guinea Pig pellets (for his first six months) and Timothy hay, and he enjoys a variety of fresh vegetables. Poppy and his companion need to live in a Rescue-required Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes located in a room the family spends time in so everyone can enjoy their company. We also ask that anyone adopting him lives a reasonable driving distance from Rockville, MD.
