Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maitake is a 2.5 y/o part siamese blend. We think he is Birman. Maitake is a high maintenance cat: he needs a lot of attention. He is not compatible with other pets (tried both dog and cat), and he cannot be in a home with children, because he has shown too much aggression towards them. We prefer full transparency in the interest of finding the right adopter. He likes to join you on the table during dinner (despite our best efforts to train him otherwise). He is totally healthy, litter box trained, rabies vaccine good thru 2021. He is beautiful, regal, playful, funny. He is very social and will follow you around the house. He can be vocal, which we don’t mind. He is intelligent and occasionally mischievous. He is quiet at night and does not need to sleep with you. He likes to eat wool, jersey, and i-phone cords, so you need to keep those put away. He has always lived indoors but would probably enjoy the outdoors. He LOVES to cuddle, and have his belly rubbed. 90% of the time he is wonderful. 10% of the time he can be testy. He doesn't take no for an answer. When he detects fear or anger, he can be aggressive, and the best method for diffusing it is distracting him with a toy. But he really needs a true cat lover, someone with patience. If you can handle his difficult traits, you will be richly rewarded as this guy is sooo loving, silly, and unique. We are very sad to have to give him away as we have loved him since he was a baby, but we have an infant at home and it has proved to be a situation that he cannot adjust to.
We will not give him to someone with kids or who may have kids in the next 10 years because we prefer him to find a forever home. Ideally he needs an owner who spends a lot of time at home, since he is very social. He also is best when not cooped up in a small apartment, so ideally you live in a house. We will not respond to inquiries from people with kids or pets.
