As the lyrics to the Elvis Costello song go: "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding?" Cooper would really like to know. Cooper is a 9 year old jet black Cocker Spaniel who comes to us from an all-breed rescue following a failed foster attempt. Cooper was unfortunately placed in a home without experience of the breed and bit while being given a bath. In a tragic turn of events, the foster in turn sent him back into the shelter system, which for Cooper must have been awful. After all, he is an older dog who has been traumatized and likely was in considerable pain. We believe his hips to be sore from arthritis (as he is quite overweight) and he is also rather hearing impaired due to chronically infected ears. To bathe a dog who was not feeling well was rather a bad idea. In retrospect, he should have been groomed in advance so that he could have had time to heal and adjust, particularly in a new foster environment. We will ensure that he is professionally bathed and clipped prior to being placed again. Cooper has now been fully vetted, including deep ear flush, bloodwork and dental. He is in much better health now and proving to be a giant mush (very happy and outgoing). Cooper is friendly with both dogs and cats and is also friendly with people. He has been neutered, microchipped, is current on all shots and has tested heartworm negative. If you can offer Cooper a foster home in which he can find the Peace, Love and Understanding he so deserves, please email rescue@nyabandonedangels.com or visit http://www.nyabandonedangels.com/ , where you can complete and return an application on-line. Cooper has had an unfortunate false start and now he needs your help.
