My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet 'Louie 2' !!

Louie 2 is so named because there is currently another Louie in the rescue, and we have to make sure we know what dog folks are applying for!!!  Please be sure to include the  '2' when applying for this little guy.

Louie comes to MMR as an owner surrender.  His family surrendered him when they had a young child and didn't have the time to spend with Louie.  He also bit his former owner after the human child arrived....we are not sure if this was something he always did, or something that started as a result of not getting the time, attention and exercise he needed.  FOR THIS REASON, LOUIE 2 WILL NOT BE PLACED IN A  HOME WITH ANY CHILDREN.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  MMR IS ALSO REQUIRING THAT LOUIE 2'S NEW HOME HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH FRENCH BULLDOGS (OR SIMILAR BULLY BREEDS) AND A FENCED YARD.  HE WILL NOT BE PLACED IN A HOME WITH CATS, HOWEVER, HE IS O.K. WITH ANOTHER SIMILAR SIZED, MELLOW DOG.  LOUIE 2 SHOULD BE FED SEPARATE FROM OTHER PETS, AS HE IS A FOOD GUARDER.  HIS BOWL SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED UNTIL HE HAS WALKED AWAY, AS THIS SUDDEN MOVEMENT HAS STARTLED HIM IN THE PAST, AND CAN LEAD TO A FEAR BITE.

Louie 2 is approximately 5 years old and is healthy. He has a small benign bump on his side that his former owner advised had been checked by his former vet, and it was benign.  It does not cause him any discomfort and does not need to be removed.  He has been neutered and is up to date on vaccines.  He is also up to date on heart worm testing, is negative, and on a monthly preventative.  He is completely house trained and not destructive in the home.  He CANNOT BE CRATED, AS HE IS TERRIFIED OF THE CRATE, but he can be gated in a safe area without any issues. The kitchen in his new home could be this area.

Something in Louie2's past has caused him to be easily frightened.  Despite this, he loves to snuggle with his person.  Care should be taken in his new home that he is not allowed to claim one person as his own, otherwise he can become protective of that person.  Louie2 needs continued socialization with other pets, other people and new situations....all of which should be done slowly and with an experienced owner.   HE IS NOT AGGRESSIVE AT ALL.   He has reacted poorly, with a bite, to situations or people who have frightened him.  This is called fear biting, not aggression.   He is easily redirected when necessary, and is a very intelligent dog.

Louie 2 is described by his foster a a loving, quirky guy who needs an experienced person to lead him, and to show him consistent love and training.   If you meet the requirements listed above and feel that you can help this sweet boy work through his issues, please fill out an application and ask for LOUIE 2!!!!

My adoption fee is $300, which covers the cost of routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, my microchip, monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea/tick prevention, and any transport costs if applicable.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website:

MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.
