My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

5/6-Update from foster momma: 'Al' is doing amazingly well.  In fact, he's a totally different dog. No more separation anxiety! Only whining is when he wants water, food or potty. He asks to go out! No accidents! He likes his crate and knows to sit for his food. Walks well on leash. Loves my kids.'..Would be a great family dog!!

Meet Capone...
This poor guy hasn't had the easiest start in life. At just 4 years old, his prior 'owners' let him go for years with a skin infections, which caused him to lose alot of his hair. His skin became very painful and raw. When they no longer felt like dealing with his skin issues, they turned him into a local shelter. That is when the call to rescue came. Capone is now on two medications to heal his skin, along with daily medicated baths to ease his skin and help it grow back. This is NOT something he will need to be on for life. Any potential adopter will need to know he will still need his medicated baths though for a few weeks following his adoption.

Capone is a larger pug, weighing just over 20lbs. He is super sweet, but does have some mild separation anxiety. We are pretty sure this will dissipate in time, and was caused by the lack of care and abandonment by his former owners. Capone would do best in a home where he is not by himself all day, and also where he has the companionship of another dog. He is a sweet, loving, and energetic boy. We are working on house training him. Since he was recently neutered by us, we are hopefully that will help him catch on now. Better photos coming soon...

My adoption fee is $400, which covers the cost of routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, my microchip, monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea/tick prevention, and any transport costs if applicable.

If you can't adopt me, consider sponsoring my care and being a rescue angel. Click on the DONATE button below and chip in what you can. Your donation is tax deductible and helps us save more lives!

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website under 'How you can help.' MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.
