My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Meggie, my full foster name is Your Highness Margaret Eleanor Atwood Hound, and I am one grateful, happy Basset, who believes that “this above all, ( I ) refuse to be a victim”…that’s my motto!

I am a three year old girl, and my life to this point wasn’t very pleasant.  However, I have hit the lottery!  I was rescued from my less than humble, completely outdoors, beginnings by CBHR, and have quickly adjusted to inside life. I am almost completely house trained, which is amazing, given my former life spent all outdoors.   I have a new princess bed, lots of toys, and a four-legged foster Basset brother named Ernie.  I am a quick learner, and the “stubborn” Basset gene must have missed me, because l almost always listen to my foster Hoomans.  I also know how the “fetch,” a rare skill in the hound breed.

I had children at a young age, and am working hard to get my girlish figure back.  It shouldn’t take me long, because I love walks (on the beach or otherwise), lol!  I do very well on a lead, even though I haven’t had much experience.  I also love to ride, and am ready for adventure!

I get along very well with my hound brother, and love to play with him…until he wants to get on MY very, very special princess bed.  My princess bed is my favorite place, because every girl needs her space (hence my namesake hero).  My foster mom and dad move it into their bedroom when it’s time for bed, and I sleep on it all night long.  I get up when they do, and go potty and have breakfast.  They move my special bed to the den when they go to work, and I sleep in front of the fireplace until they get home.  My princess bed is part of the deal, if you choose me as your fur-ever hound!

If you love Basset kisses, a sweet disposition, and unconditional hound love, I am your girl!
