Update 6/3: Update! Red is ready for his furever home. After 2 rounds of surgery, his rotten teeth are gone and the hole in his gum is smaller. He is missing some teeth on the upper left side but that doesn't slow him down at all. The hole in his gum is an old injury but our great vet has succuessfully made it smaller.
If you are looking for an easy going hound, Red wants to come home with you. He loves human interaction and will give you a woof to remind you that he is at your feet. He is great with kids and other dogs. He has great manners at dinner time and waits his turn to be served. He loves to sleep on a wagbag or with his people. His favorite activity is a his nightly rabbit walk around the block. Red can be left alone in the house without fear of distruction and whines at you if he needs to go outside! What a great hound!
Red is a wonderful friendly hound who was found as a stray in a North Texas community. Since his owners didn't claim him, we were able to save him from euthanasia at the shelter. Red was perceived to be older than he really is due to his horrible dental health. Missing numerous teeth, infections and even a hole in his gum, he is currently undergoing surgical procedures to help heal his mouth and prevent further damage and infections.
