My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE IN THE MIDWEST AND NEW ENGLAND REGIONS… COCO AND PENNY

Often times when a dog is rescued, they can be quite nervous for the first few days or even weeks. As time goes on, those nerves die down when they learn they can trust their foster parents and what love feels like. For Coco, this didn’t happen the way it usually does. Coco DID start to let her walls down but she continued to be very nervous and anxious for much longer than expected. What changed? Penny. When Coco’s foster mom answered Lucky Lab’s desperate plea for a foster, Coco met her better half. Penny has shown Coco how to be more confident and that the two-legged creatures are here to love and protect her. Since meeting her new sister, Coco is a different dog. For this reason, Coco and Penny must be adopted together.

Coco is a 2 year old chocolate girl, weighing 50 pounds, and absolutely beautiful. We don’t know details about her life before Lucky Lab but we believe she was treated very poorly by her former owner and this has caused her to be very nervous and afraid of a lot of things. Coco is a very high energy dog, so much so that vet has given her anxiety meds to help calm her down. She is very nervous when meeting new people and takes some time to get used to them. Coco does well with other dogs once she has met them and knows they are friendly.

Penny is around 2 years old, 50 pounds, and a beautiful yellow/gold color. She was taken to a high kill shelter as an owner surrender and her days were very limited before Lucky Lab rescued her. Penny is very playful and loves a good game of tug-o-war. She does great with other dogs and loves to cuddle. If you like dogs with affection, Penny is your girl! She loves to lay in your lap and give kisses like crazy.

Coco and Penny are both housebroken but still have accidents when they get excited. They both get along well with other dogs and enjoy cats, but sometimes show a little too much interest in them. Being young dogs, they should be given plenty of bones and chew toys, otherwise shoes and trash can become their focus. Both dogs must be crated when going in the car, as Penny loves to sprint out of open doors and Coco gets anxious (both girls are working to improve their flaws). Coco and Penny would do best in a home without small children, as the unpredictability of a toddler will likely make Coco nervous You might not have been looking for two dogs, but Coco and Penny will allow you to experience the magic of rescue in its best form. What a better way to help Coco find her furever home than with her new best friend by her side, and by YOUR side!b

Coco and Penny are spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and kept on monthly preventatives. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application on www.luckylabrescue.com and indicate “Coco and Penny” in the notes section
